Program Highlights
November 17
4:20-4:40 EET
Unlocking the intricate cellular and molecular landscape of the nervous system demands cutting-edge multiomic technologies that deliver precise spatial and molecular insights. Bio-Techne Spatial presents two powerful, complementary methods—RNAscope™ and COMET™—that revolutionize neuroscience research by revealing RNA expression and protein dynamics directly within intact brain tissue.
RNAscope is a highly sensitive and specific in situ hybridization technique designed to detect and visualize single RNA molecules at cellular and subcellular resolution. It can be performed manually alone or combined with immunofluorescence (IF) to detect a limited number of proteins, allowing researchers to spatially map gene expression, characterize cell-type specific transcriptomes, and study disease-related molecular changes with high throughput and multiplexing. Key applications include exploring neuronal/glial diversity, visualizing microglial cytokine expression during neuroinflammation, and assessing gene therapy or RNA therapeutic efficacy.
Complementing RNAscope, COMET is a high-plex spatial proteomics platform enabling simultaneous detection of dozens of proteins and post-translational modifications in brain tissue slices. Importantly, RNAscope can be integrated within the COMET workflow for comprehensive multiomic detection. Utilizing multiplexed antibody panels and advanced imaging, COMET deciphers spatial protein patterns, signaling pathways, and cellular phenotypes critical to understanding neurological development, injury, and disease progression.
Together, RNAscope and COMET offer a multiomic spatial approach that integrates transcriptomic and proteomic data within preserved tissue architecture, overcoming the limitations of bulk sequencing and isolated assays. This integrated perspective accelerates discovery of molecular mechanisms, cellular interactions, and therapeutic targets in neuroscience with unprecedented resolution.
Discover how Bio-Techne Spatial’s scalable, reliable tools empower researchers to deepen their understanding of the brain’s molecular complexity. We invite you to explore these innovative solutions and their transformative impact on neuroscience research.
