Prognostic spatial features of the tumor microenvironment of skin cancer

11:20 – 11:30

Dr. Hollestein was intrigued by epidemiological results that most patients who die from melanoma, were initially diagnosed with a stage I or II melanoma. Therefore, she wants to contribute to better prognostic models for these patients. For this purpose, she designed the Dutch Early Stage Melanoma (D-ESMEL) study to address this clinical need. In the D-ESMEL study multi-omics data, imaging data and clinical data are being combined with computer science to build improved prognostic models. Multiple multiplex immunofluorescence platforms (i.e. Akoya/Vectra, Roche/Discovery Ultra, Lunaphore/COMET) were applied to this cohort to study tumor-immune cell interactions. During the X-omics festival Dr. Hollestein will present the different aspects of these analyses and the most recent findings in the melanoma tumor microenvironment.
